About Nicola and Eclipse

I have a background in Psychology and have extensive experience as a teacher. My journey into practicing therapy began in 2002 when, as a new form tutor in charge of a group of 16 year-olds I wanted to develop skills that would enable me to support them to the best of my ability. As a Psychology teacher I also had background knowledge of psychological approaches to therapy and an understanding of a range of psychological disorders. Over the years my interest developed into a passion and on completing my Level 4 qualification as a Therapeutic Counsellor I started to explore solution focused techniques and mindfulness. I have also worked as a volunteer supporting clients through experiences of grief and loss, involving both face-to-face support and therapy via telephone. Working with sixth form students in a large comprehensive school also developed my skills in working with young people presenting with a range of issues from trouble with organisation and time management to anxiety, low self-esteem and exam stress.

I am a fully qualified hypnotherapist

I qualified as a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist from the celebrated Clifton Practice in Bristol. I was fortunate enough to be tutored by the renowned David Newton and I achieved not only the Solution Focused Hypnotherapy Diploma but also the Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma.

 

I work for the Association for Solution Focused Hypnotherapists

I am currently Head of Professional Standards for the Association for Solution Focused Hypnotherapists, a role which involves creating policies, codes of conduct and ethics and supporting hypnotherapists in maintaining the highest standards in their practice.

I am a hypnotherapy Supervisor

I am qualified a Hypnotherapy Supervisor so that I am  able to work closely with other therapists to help them in providing the best service for their clients.

I work in Abergavenny and South Wales

Since qualifying as a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist I have been helping clients from my base in Abergavenny but I also attract clients from the surrounding areas of Newport, Hereford, Brecon and the South Wales Valleys.

Why Eclipse?

I chose the symbol of an eclipse as the transitions I see in my clients are like movements from darkness into light; as if a veil has been lifted and the way forward becomes clearer.
